Sometimes it's a deep theological truth, or an encounter with the Supernatural that does it. Other times, it is simply the words of a child.
Today during our time of doing Phonics together, Sophie quite suddenly looked up at me and said, "Mommy, I really like the way God made you. Because I think you're pretty."
Tears in my eyes.... big hugs....and reassurance that I am indeed happy with the way God made her, too. I'm not sure where that came from today.....held against the standard of this world and it's culture, I'm so far from anything resembling pretty. But my heart was warmed to think that my 5 yr. old sees something pretty in me....and EVEN MORE SO to think that she knows where the value and worth in each one of us comes from. God.

Ah Tara...you are too pretty...but totally understand how meaningful those words are when they come from your own children. I was recently told by my own progeny that they love giving me hugs because I am so "squishy." It was said oh so sincerely and sweetly that I took it as the compliment they meant it for.
But then I heard that another of our progeny told his Wed. night teacher at church that his dad is fat right here (pointing to love handles)...that one really cracked me up because Tom is so NOT fat.
Anyways...sounds like your house if getting better feedback than ours lately.
So sweet! There's nothing more rewarding than parenting. I think little moments like that are little reminders from God of how valuable our rewarding our jobs as mommies are.
So glad to see you back on here. I'm very interested in your homeschool change. I too am thinking of doing something different next year. The Abeka is so very convenient since I work from home and Josh can do school while I work, but I'm not sure it's quite what I'm looking for. I may be quitting my job soon, so I would have more options.
I missed you while you were away, but so glad you took the time to find God's leadership and glad you've found what God has for you.
Children are often much wiser than we think! I agree with Sophie. :)
so true!
Aw, so cute! I love moments like that with my kids!
Glad to see that your back.
So true about inner beauty in a culture that values it so little.
BTW I think you're pretty too.
That is so sweet! Those are the moments you realize that maybe the things you have been praying for are sticking in their sweet little minds.
