"You must be so proud...."

Today we learned the famous story of George Washington and the cherry tree. I am such a sap for these deeply patriotic stories of our founding fathers. I almost get weepy. So I told the story with great gusto, emphasizing all the areas that I planned to use for character training, i.e. honesty, etc. When I was finished, and ready for the application part of the lesson, I waited eagerly for Cameron to narrate back to me the key parts of the story. Instead, I heard,

"Mommy, when I get older, will you buy me a hatchet like that?"

Talk about being brought down from your high horse. I'm so proud.

Wonderful story! Cameron is one cool kid. :) I enjoyed being with you guys so much last week. It was good for the soul. Since I've been on vacation this week, I haven't spent much time at all on the www. However, I just read your last post, and it warmed my heart. *sniff* Thanks! I will be sure to catch up on my blogging when I get home next week. I'll make sure that "special picture" gets posted!!

Give my love to your kids. They are really great. Brent and I talked a lot about what a great job you guys are doing. You and Derek are two of my heros!

Love you guys!

That is so funny. Sometimes kids sure burst our bubble, don't they. But you can be sure he got the main point too! :-)

I guess the cool weapon always wins out over the moral application...wait, this means he's NORMAL:) (and Dr. Dobson would say be thankful for that!!:)

Sonja: Cameron beamed to think that Sonja called him "cool". Lauren was a little jealous. She wants Sonja to think she's cool, too! Looking forward to a new blog from you....

Jody: Amen to that!

Kimber: I wouldn't dare to disagree with Dr. Dobson! If it's good enough for him then it's good enough for me, too! oh, and I will gladly read with gusto for you anytime :)

Make sure Lauren knows that I think her coolness knows no bounds. (Actually, there were many times when she reminded me a lot of myself.) And, so that no one is left out, Sophie's individualism is also incredibly cool (she made me laugh...hard) and Reagan, well he's just one of the neatest babies around (although I doubt his feelings would be hurt if I forgot him at this point). ;) There, I hope all of your children are now secure in their coolness. Seriously, I think they are really neat.

Tara that sounds just like something my boys would say. They are always asking me if they can have the kitchen knives. Justin, my oldest, is always trying to sharpen something. Even if he doesn't have a knife, he will peel the ends of the stick to get it sharp. Boys are so much fun but sometimes I wonder if my poor little nerves will hold out sometimes!

Tara;

Been there, done that. It is a let down to be giving some deep truth only to hear, "Yes Mommy. One time this big spider....." :)
