Dog Days of Summer...

Thank you to all who expressed such kindness and compassion in my last post. Lauren is doing pretty well bearing her disappointment. I think it is going to be a long process of grasping the whole thing. In her grief, she has taken to begging for a puppy these days. She and her "band of brothers" (ha!) and sister have taken to new songwriting over the issue. My camera memory card was full the other day when I tried to grab it and catch them in the act: guitars strapped on, singing with all their might, "OH I wish I had a dog, I wish I had a dog, I wish I had a dog today. I wish I had a dog, I wish I had a dog, OH I WISH I had a dog TODAY!" And it went to other verses which I don't recall. My kids are a hoot.

I admit, Mommy and Daddy are both having a softy spot on the subject. So, who knows, maybe the day will come when we'll make our family addition announcement. Long about the time we would normally get 'baby fever' and there are no babies to be had! :) Yeah, that was probably too much information......

Yesterday was our first Sunday with our new pastor. I think it went exceptionally well for such a huge transition service. Things are different, to be sure, but we feel that as long as God does keep us serving in this congregation we're going to do so with all our might, and attempt to be as much a blessing as we can be.

My brain is rather tired now, and this is as much of an update as I seem to be able to muster. I apologize for the boring content of this post! I just thought it was time to post something new in place of the depressing post below.

Happy Independence week to you and yours! God Bless America!

I didn't comment on your last post because I couldn't think of a thing to say, but it wasn't because I didn't care! Actually, I got off my computer and prayed for y'all and for Lauren. Never been in a situation quite like that, so I had no good advice. A dog would be nice:)

No apologies necessary!, I'm glad you updated us! Thankful your Sunday went well! Oh, what trouble a dog would be, but how your kiddos would love you!:)

[Wishing ya'll were able to be in AL this weekend...will we ever reunite again? (I guess somebody needs to get marrried...that seems to be the only thing that gathers a group!)]

Hey! I'll get married! I'd love a reunion!

Thanks for the update. I appreciate people like you who post more regularly. (Unlike myself who saves up humongous amounts of information and downloads it all at once.) So glad that Lauren is adjusting. I'm sure that it will be a process. The grief may hit again unexpectedly. I wish you wisdom!

Good luck with the dog thing. And I would love to be privy to a concert by your children. They amuse me already, so I would probably wet myself. (Maybe that's why I WON'T be getting married any time soon. Shoot.)

Maybe you should just get Sonja, you would have to housebreak her, but I bet she'd be a lot more fun.
Been praying for Lauren, she is so young to have to realize that life can be so unfair.
If your new pastor doesn't work out you could always move back down here.

YES....PLEASE DO get married, ladies! It would be the perfect excuse to bring our motley crew together again! :) I'll even dance at your wedding......on second thought......

Thanks for your kind words, friends.

feeling paranoid....that should be "I'll dance at your weddingS"....plural....you know these days you just can't be too careful...

Good grief! Remember the video we made for Kimberly and Sonja? In front of your cabinets in your little apartment you did a lovely renditiion of the Rice-a-Roni song while holding a box. The problem was that you dropped the box halfway through and doubled over laughing. We'll have to pull out the video.
As for General McArthur, Harold messed up one time and said, "I'll be back". You once again laughed very hard and corrected him. We actually used to say it for awhile after just to annoy you.
Are you okay?

"I'll be back", wasn't that Arnold Swartzenabacher?

I personally, really enjoyed your "boring" update. Good friends like the mundane too.

If you dance at the weddings perhaps Kayla could sing the "Howlin Cowboy". I pesonally would love to hear Vestal sing "The Rose". What will I contribute? Well, I don't like to brag, but I could write a lovely "Ode to the Bride and Groom". Any takers?

Me me me!!! I'm a taker!:)...yes, Tara, just WHO were you trying to doom with the lack of a plural S??!!....I'm getting mad just reading this...guess I'll get miffed and not read your blog anymore...how then will I live?! (seriously!)If either of us manage a wedding, I believe there WILL be multiple happy dances occurring...yes, in the plural!:)

(missed you at camp...I saw Marty and all her sweet sisters!!:)

Kimber,
After I posted my first comment, I saw that it looked like there would be ONE wedding...for TWO girls. (that being the grammatical implication.) Therefore, I decided to ammend it with that all-important "S".

So, I was never intending to leave either of you out...I just want you to EACH have a lovely wedding!!!! To a very dashing GROOM!!

Would sure loved to have been in AL this past weekend. WHY O WHY is it so hard to make these things happen?

Kayla and Juwah: I think I'm slowly remembering some of these incidents, though very foggy. I don't know what's wrong with me! I do have a gazillion other memories. Perhaps I've just blocked out the things that paint me in the poorest light?!?!?!??!

I vaguely remember something about trying to convince Harold that it was supposed to be "I Shall Return", but I don't remember being annoyed by any of it. Missing you all today.....
