Little Ray of Sunshine.....

Hello Fellow-Bloggers! I'm back! I know that you didn't miss me, since I was only gone for a few days, but I must admit that I really missed being in blogosphere! Perhaps it is addictive after all.....

As I previously mentioned, we were in INDY this weekend for Derek's brother's graduation from Police Academy. I did sign on at my in-laws last night just to wish Kimber a Happy B'day! But tonight I have really enjoyed reading all your blogs and catching up with all of your goings-on: except for Julia who is trying to win some kind of world record for most COMMENTS RECEIVED. I told her I refuse to participate anymore!

Anyway, our weekend did go well. It was nice to get away together as a family, even to Indy. It was Reagan's first 'trip', and overall he did well. Though I could tell he knew he was in unfamiliar surroundings. As I type this tonight, he's sleeping soundly in his own bed.

I had a really nice moment this morning that I want to share with you all, especially any other mothers because I know you will appreciate the value of it most of all. Thus, the title for this blog. After the graduation ceremony yesterday, we went out to dinner with a large group of friends and family. We had a good time eating and visiting before going our separate ways. This morning, I received a phone call from one of the ladies there who I don't personally know very well. She was calling to commend me on my children and our job of parenting. She was impressed that the children stayed seated, used manners, entered conversation well, and didn't create a scene in all the time that we were there. And she just wanted to let me know. I actually became quite choked up on the phone with her. And like I said, I don't really know her well. But that compliment meant the WORLD to me: it really was like a ray of SUNSHINE, and you know how I love sunshine! It's just sometimes I think I'm failing miserably, and then other times I think I'm too hard on myself and my kids! That affirmation this morning was so kind, and was actually like an early Mother's Day present for me. I can't think of anything that would please me more!

I certainly don't share this story to brag; only share because it meant so much to me, and I know you all would understand why. For I feel certain that if I went to dinner with any one of you and yours, I could pass the compliment right along to YOU!

I'm posting some pics from the graduation, for whoever may wish to see little Scottie H all grown up!

Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow.....

Thanks for sharing that story. I think that as mothers we all need a little affirmation once in a while.
Little Scotty is definitely all grown up. Is he married yet?

Hey Tara... It's been fun reading your blog. I have had it bookmared for a couple of weeks (you never know who is lurking hee hee hee hee).
Neat story... I can relate because an aunt of mine with no kids said that once about my boys and I just about had a heart attack. It's the best feeling!
I have a new blog but it's not very exciting yet because I haven't figured it out yet.

Take care!

Good job, Tara (fellow addict)...and you don't sound braggy at all. As someone w/o children, I have learned to respect various styles..and not judge the kiddos or parents...there's enough pressure out there! But it is nice to be w/the wellbehaved ones.
(Notice that Julia sometimes comments herself..hehe, let's get something started:)

You are the second person who has told me that they saw me last night. How terrible did I look? Yes that was Rochenda and Angel with me. She is here for two weeks, so I hope we get to spend some time together.
Mrs. Sharon A complimented me on the boys behaviour in church last night. As you can imagine a compliment from her made me feel really good. Maybe there's hope.

Kayla,

I THOUGHT that was Mrs. A talking to you when the camera panned! You looked fine, by the way! And, yes, a compliment from her would mean a lot. Love ya!

Wow, it just makes your heart swell up to get a compliment like that doesn't it? The reason why is because raising our children is our greatest calling in life. We sort of give up our lives to raise them. It's nice to hear every once in a while that we're doing a good job. Know the feeling and I'm sure it was a compliment well deserved.

By the way, Julia has posted a new entry so you can visit her blog again:)

SURE WISH I HAD FRIENDS!! OK, if I didn't comment back wouldn't that be RUDE? Ok, I know there are some jealousy issues going on, so I will not respond in an equally ugly way. :) Just call Kim and see if she can help you all work through some of these issues.

So has everyone had a compliment on their kids. Should I be worried? hee hee hee :)
It is nice to get encouraging words that help us to see that all the hard work is paying off, because there are days when I start to wonder. ;) As I tell the boys, they help our family point people to Jesus by being kind and thoughtful of others. You are doing a good job with your kiddos, they are so very pleasant.

Bravo to all of you with children. My hat is off to you. Actually, I didn't really have one on to begin with, but if I wore a hat (which I only do rarely) it would be off to you. I do salute you on your minute by minute hard work!
