Considering Blackmail

So this is supposed to be our vacation week. We had intended and planned to be in Pigeon Forge this week, but events have conspired against us to make this impossible at the moment. However, since Derek already had the time coming to him from his job, we decided to just leave it that way. We've been hanging around home, doing all sorts of productive things that don't get the necessary attention during busy times. We've played games with the kiddos. We've sung around the piano. We've watched old home movies that we haven't pulled out in eons. And we've just been together. It's been a treat to have Daddy home every day, as he will continue to be till next Wednesday!!! It' s not the traditional kind, but we're still calling it VACATION and being thankful for what we've got. We're heading to Indy over the weekend to be with Derek's family and share music in their Morning Worship Service.

But speaking of watching those old home movies.....where do I begin? Let's just say that Derek and I were up until 2:00 IN THE MORNING last night laughing our fool heads off and plotting ways that we could easily blackmail and humiliate certain long-time friends if we so chose. Yes, that's right, we uncovered that cherished old classic "Homecoming" style music performed by our old gang of cohorts in Hobe Sound. It is starring Brent Vernon who portrays several characters such as Michael W. Smith, Jake Hess, Jonathan Martin, etc. There's Jani Beardslee who does quite a number on Sherri Easter and the blonde Martin girl, and of course Julia who successfully completes the Martin Trio. Yes, even Becca makes her appearance resembling the likes of Lillie Knall complete w/hat and pearls. Derek pulls off a Michael English. I do a scary Gloria Gaither. But let's face it, the star of the show was Sonja portraying Vestal in all glory, bedsheet wrapped 'round and all. Oh, I'm sure it was a "guess you had to be there" kinda moment, but it was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I was gasping for breath, and trying to keep from waking the kids up while we meandered down that Memory Lane. Good times....slightly embarrassing and humiliating times.....but GOOD times all the same.

That same video had parts that Julia recorded one Sunday night when we all hung at the
Vernons singing around the piano. There was some good stuff on that one, too! (Juwah, I have two videotapes of yours that I plan to mail out to you. There's stuff from Visions' tours to Grand Canyon, etc. )

So, what do you think? Should I try to devise a way to upload some of that charming material for your viewing pleasure?!? heh,heh....that ought to show 'em, huh, Kimberly?! (yes, I have damaging evidence of Kayla too!)

On that note of ponderance I will bid you all adieu. Blessings on you and yours.

I vote "Yes"! (mostly because I don't think I'm on them and so have no fear!)...actually I would prefer just watching them all together again and maybe a new taping! Perhaps a bit too risky to actually post!:)

btw, do you have the tape w/Sonja being Yassar Arrafat in Branson...hehehe! One of my favorite:)

Even though I know it would be very incriminating, I would love to see some of those old videos again. We should get them put on disc. I would love to see your Rice a Roni commercial one more time. Or you sitting at the wheel of Julia's car trying to steer and and yelling while the rest of us pushed it down the road. Those were the days.
Julia suggested that maybe every month we could each share a college/highschool memory, and I'm sure we all have some great old pictures we could embarrass each other with.

I would love to see those! Somehow in my moving, I lost a lot of my old HS pics. I had some great ones of YOU girl! I'd give anything to find them.

Hanging around the house with the family can be fun! Being able to get things done around the home is rewarding;)

I really wish I had the 1-800-FMAW tape! Just thinking of it puts me in the mood for some SHWEETS! :) Kayla, I must be getting really old 'cause I don't remember the Rice A Roni commercial. I remember doing some weird laffy taffy thing..... I think it's a great idea to share a memory. And I think it's a great idea to get these put onto disc. I think I'll do that w/the ones I have. Julia has most of the tapes....like the Halloween one we did one year, and others! Those really were the days. Heeeeeeruld......there's a CURVE!

"STAY-CATION" is a marvelous word!

How can you not remember Rice A Roni?...I think I even have a tape that ya'll made and sent to me and Sonja with that "commercial"...must find. We are too young to be already forgetting, Tara!:)

Arafat???? Kimberly, what did I do? The Lord only knows. I do not recall that incident...

Thanks for making me laugh, Tara. (I had to do it quietly since I'm in the library.) Those are truly some of my most treasured memories and are worth their weight in blackmail gold. One of my favorites was Derek in "Gomer Pyle and Kayla". Wow. Some of those moments are truly worth sharing. I actually would rather watch them WITH you. They are much funnier that way.

Nice to know you can't harm MY reputation. I was still in kindergarten, you know...

I'm having to ask Nathan about all these 'inner circle' jokes... Anyways, he does confirm that Derek is uncannily (is that a word?) Gomerish...

;o) pardon my ignorance~ Nathan says you were the Inner RING...

I would also like to see these. I remember in college, Tara & Julia singing "Boot Scoot- N- Boogy" in opera voices and wearing their skirts up to their necks (over their arms).

Unfortunately there was no recorder around to record this so I could blackmail either. Yes Tara I am pretending you aren't reading this ha!

Don't you think that some things are better left in the past?! :-) Actually, it would be fun to see the video again.

How do I tell you all this? Well, it's like this. All those really humiliating things I did in High School and College?....well, that wasn't me. I was a twin and my rebellious mental sister Moolia used to show up in Hobe Sound when I would go home to my parents to fast and pray. I've been protecting her and our family for years, but with this threat of blackmail I'm letting the cat out of the bag. It wasn't me, I was home praying, it was Moolia. I don't even like Billy Rae and Rice-A-Roni is good, but hardly the San Francisco treat!
